Eradicate extreme poverty in Cambodia & hunger

Cambodia is a country that sufferers from all the different millennium goals, the first being extreme poverty and hunger. In order to track the success or failure of this goal, in 2012  the review for the goal was taken through something called a quarterly project.  The  quarterly project was considered the evaluation of this goal throughout different quarters  through out the year. This was mainly carried out in the first two years of the goals  being in effect within Cambodia. It is known as a poor country that has very low capital income, and according to a progress report the poverty line in Cambodia's population has continued to be the same. Over 14% were living under the simple food poverty line, let alone the 45% over all of the excluded areas of Cambodia. As you can see in the image below, the chart shows the progress/failure in this goal for Cambodia, along with the different levels of poverty lines that the population of cambodians are living under.

Achieve universal primary education

One of the keys to success in life has always been known as education, though not all countries are fortunate enough to provide education to their citizens. The second millennium goal is to achieve universal primary education, which seems next to impossible due to the different situations that individuals are in. Achieving 9 year basic education by 2015 is the goal that Cambodia as country is relying on to allow their education ratings to increase. They are known to have made some progress in allowing individuals to have better access to primary education, although this is seen as a progression for this countries goals, there are a lot of factors that weight in. Different sources indicate that there was an amount of progression on education access for Cambodians at one point in time, there are others that indicate Cambodia's education progress in down-falling. According to a progress report they did not reach the semi goal for this goal that was set for the year 2005, and given the fact that it is progressing to an extent it seems impossible to be able to indicate whether it will be successful or not. The following graph shows the women and wages, given different sectors.

Promote gender equality and empower women

Reduce child mortality

Child mortality is the death of newborns to children. There are many children around the world that die due to the lack of health care access and poverty. This goal is aligned with the first on because of the the poverty level. It is known that places and countries around the world  that have a higher mortality rate then others are usually undeveloped countries that are also poor. This is a goal for Cambodia because they would like to decrease their mortality rate significantly. They are an undeveloped country, therefor have a lot of deaths because Cambodians do not have access to what they need in order to allow their mortality rate to decrease. In 2000 they had a ratio of 88 to 1000, and have been improving ever since. It is known now that the main cause of death is do to women in the age group of 15-44 that have pregnancy related complications such as when giving birth. Issues have changed and so is the child mortality rate in Cambodia for the better.

Improve maternal health

Maternal health is women that give birth and the status of their births. There are many women that give birth while in a messed up situation leading them to have complications with their own personal health, in some cases even death. The progress report for Cambodia shows that there isn't enough information about this goal due to the maternal mortality ratio. Although this is known to be a big issue in Cambodia it seems as the the fertility rate it's self decreased from 2000 to 2005.

Improve maternal health

Combat HIV/AIDS,malaria, and other diseases

Under developed countries citizens suffer from aids. In Cambodia this goals progress has been very well in. Data shows that there are some aspects in the different types of diseases that Cambodia has exceeded their initial goal target. One of the hardest things for any country to do is decrease the spread of AIDs, being a underdeveloped country makes it even worse. The individuals have less access to things that can help them decrease the rate or even better prevent it from the beginning. Surprisingly Cambodia is one country that seems to continue in their success in combating HIV/AIDS and meeting this millennium goal. The HIV prevalence rate around women that were pregnant lowered to 2.1%, it used to be 2.5. It is believed that is is a goal that Cambodia will reach within the years before 2015 due to the progress that they have already shown. On the right you can view a chart of the HIV Prevalence rates around the years 1995 to the expected 2015.

Ensure environmental sustainability

Environmental sustainability is the everyday environment uses to a population for example water. In Cambodia the rate for access to clean water has significantly increased more then expected for this goal. Although this makes it seem as though they might be successful for this in the coming year of 2015, but that is not true. There are many aspects of this goal that have not been reached yet either due to the lack of date that has been collected and the amount of dependents on fuel wood in the population. It did decline to 84% in 2005, showing that there is hope in meeting this goal.

Develop a global partnership for development

This a goal that the country as a whole has not really tried to implement instead they focus on the goal De-Mining, UXO and victim assistance. The country has no data collection for global partnership for development goal. Their goal instead was reached in 2012, it was to de-mine all of their contaminated areas. On the right you will be able to see the results from their own developed goal.

Women around the world are not seen as equals in the different societies. For example in Cambodia women used to be known as the house wife that were directed to do everything they were told within house hold means. This is a hard issues and goal to tackle within under developed counties because many different problems and issues arise within the different households. According to a progress report Cambodia almost met their desired target for this goal, the men and women education results are very close to one another. One of the biggest issues that they are currently facing is domestic violence which throws of the entire goal into a different direction, making it seem like an impossible unreachable goal as of right now.
